Delmar, IA – Cup Karts North America’s Champions Cup North Division was back in action this past weekend, June 16-17, at 61 Kartway in Delmar, Iowa, where a number of Coyote racers were in attendance.
Of the Coyote contingent, Bryce Shaw and Tim Huss scored CKNA wins in 61 Kartway with Shaw sweeping the feature races in the Junior division and Huss winning Sunday’s Masters class.
Sunday’s event was especially a terrific day for Coyote with Shaw and Jacob Bolen sweeping the top-two positions in the Junior feature. Shaw would follow up his Saturday victory with a 0.432-second victory over Bolen. In Saturday’s 12-lap Junior feature, Shaw would win by a comfortable 7.2-second advantage with Bolen finishing third.
In Saturday night competition, Huss managed a fourth-place finish in the Masters main on his CIK Wide Track. Sunday, however, was a different story as Huss really got his Wide Track moving which gave him a clean sweep on the day with the pole award, two heat wins and the victory in the 12-lap final. Great job to Tim on improving from Saturday and Sunday and dominating the Masters competition in the weekend’s final events!
Brothers Joshua and Jacob Bolen carried the Coyote banner in the Sportsman division, which had 11 entrants at 61 Kartway. After a strong showing at Mid-State Kart Club just two weeks earlier, Joshua did very well again at 61, finishing fourth in Saturday’s feature and improving a spot in Sunday’s main to finish third and make the podium.
Joseph Bolen, who finished on the podium both days at Mid-State, would finish sixth Saturday night and run into some problems Sunday, which saw him finish 10th.
We had three drivers in the Senior Heavy division with Justin Wishard, Joseph Rapp and Corey Domenick all entering the race on Coyote chassis. Wishard had the best weekend of the trio with a third-place finish both Saturday night and Sunday afternoon. Justin also set the fast lap time of the race on Saturday night with a fast lap of 50.956.
Domenick recorded finishes of fourth Saturday and sixth Sunday while Rapp finished fifth Saturday and fourth on Sunday.
The CKNA North Division will be back in action for Round 3 June 14-15 at the historic Road America kart track in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin.
Many thanks to all the racers and families who gave Coyote Motorsports a great showing at 61 Kartway!
